Urgent Treatment Pathway
We aim to provide Plastic Surgeons and Cosmetic Clinics a pathway for urgent referral of patients suffering from acute arterial ischemia following cosmetic filler injection

Inadvertent arterial injection of cosmetic filler results in sudden blockage of an affected artery causing ischemia (lack of blood flow and oxygen starvation) of tissues fed by that artery. Prompt recognition and treatment is vital. Medical treatment should be initiated promptly while referral is sent for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a vital adjunct for treating this complication and as such is covered by OHIP, however timely access is critical. We provide this service to triage patients for timely access.
Once consulted we will aim to see the patient virtually the same day and start treatment within 24 hours
